Leaving home is a starting point to find a new and distinct point of view. Leaving the interior of BC by plane allows one to look down on the familiar landscape of home and yet to see it anew from an aerial perspective. The perspective of a bird flying over and how the world appears from that vantage point intrigues me. Changing my vantage point; I am able to rethink the familiar. Viewing Kalamalka beach from above I was inspired by the beautiful jewel tones of her water and by the idea of finding the all familiar route from the highway to the beach from a birds-eye perspective. Mapping my route from above seemed so apparent and yet so vastly different an experience from when I’m in the landscape to being above it. Rethinking and reimagining my path to the lake from above gave me an opportunity to think, and see, like a bird.
